Describe the effort to conserve energy at global, country, school and individual level.
Energy conservation is an environmental issue.
Global
Globally, everyone has a part to play in conserving energy. We can do that by reducing the amount of energy wastage and to minimise the adverse effects of the use of energy, such as pollution, on our environment.
To reduce energy wastage, we have to manage our use of energy effectively; its management involves using less energy and at the same time, keeping up with our standard of living.
A lot of energy is used to produce our daily materials such as paper. However, lesser energy is needed to recycle these materials, recycling used materials saves a lot of energy. Example, it is cheaper to reduce metal than to extract it from metal ores and have it processed.
Country
We can reduce the amount of energy used in our homes, schools, offices and factories by changing our habits and using energy-saving equipments.
The normal light bulbs that we use not only give off light, but often also give off heat unnecessarily. To reduce energy waste, we can use energy-saving light bulbs that produce more light and at the same time, gives off less heat.
In School
In school, when going to somewhere, we should off the lights and fans in order to save energy.
Individual
To conserve energy individually, we should always turn off equipment or appliances when they are not in use and reused or recycle any unused paper, blank or used.
On a hot day, instead of turning on the air-conditional or an electrical fan to cool yourself down, why not use a paper fan to fan oneself or you can open all windows to enable wind to come into your house.
Solar panels can be installed on the roof of our homes or insulated tanks to heat up water as it is not only cheap and easy to fix, but it is also a way to conserve energy.
